Leinenkugel’s Ventures Into Sour Beer Territory With Juicy Peach

Leinenkugel’s has long been associated with beers that reward consumers with a refreshing burst of flavour. Leinenkugel’s, owned by Molson Coors, has now ventured into the sour beer territory with its refreshing new Juicy Peach.

Juicy Peach is a fruited session sour-style ale that is brewed with Pale, Caramel, and Wheat malts, bittered with Cluster Hops, and fermented with Leinenkugel’s Lager Yeast strain. It is balanced with a hint of sweetness from natural peach juice with subtle tartness.

Juicy Peach is just tart enough to keep it interesting, but not puckering sour, giving you the thirst-quenching, easy drinking flavour experience that can be enjoyed all year long.

Story of Juicy Peach

Since this is the brewery’s first ever fruited sour, we were curious to know what made Leinenkugel’s venture into this territory. “Leinenkugel’s is always looking for new ways to bring different, tasty and distinctly Leinenkugel’s beers to our fans. This is the first fruited session-sour style ale we have ever created and we think fans will really like it. The beer is refreshing and easy to drink, balancing delicious sweetness from natural peach juice with subtle tart notes. It’s approachable, thirst quenching, packed with flavour and just dang good!” says Tony Bugher, a 6th generation Leinenkugel.

In the near future, Leinenkugel’s will be experimenting with more fruited sour beers. “We’re going to monitor how Juicy Peach performs in the market, but the early read is that consumers love this beer. It’s been selling very well so far so we may continue to experiment with more fruited sour recipes like this one in the future!” Bugher says. Well, fruited sours are fantastic but how about turning it up a notch and barrel-ageing sours? “With the addition of our new Pilot Brewery we are looking into experimenting with many beer styles, including small-scale barrel aged sours.”

Session style beers pair really well with lighter foods such as salads or less intense cheese. We asked for an ideal food pairing guide, to which Bugher responded saying “Juicy Peach is the perfect pair to spicy foods, cured meats like sausage and assertive cheeses like sharp cheddar or goat. You will definitely want Leinenkugel’s Juicy Peach to pair with your next charcuterie board.”

In addition to this, Leinie’s is also relaunching their Session Helles light lager under a new banner: Leinenkugel’s Sunshine Light Lager. It is a bright, light-bodied beer, brewed with Tradition hops and select Munich malt.

“Leinenkugel’s Sunshine Light Lager is crisp, easy to drink and only 99 calories,” Hubert says. “It’s lighter than most Helles-style beers, and its new look really showcases the type of occasion it’s perfect for. We’re excited to get Sunshine Light Lager and Juicy Peach on shelves, delivering the flavourful styles Leinenkugel’s is known for.” says Crystal Hubert, associate marketing manager, Leinenkugel’s.
