VIRGINIA — Look no further, we may have found the perfect job.
A Virginia brewing company is looking to fill its 2021 Chief Hiking Officer. What does that job entail? Hiking the 2,000+ miles of the Appalachian Trail. It stretches from Georgia all the way up to Maine.
The Devils Backbone Brewing Company posted the position on its website, which describes it as “We’ll outfit our CHO with gear, fly ‘em to the trail head, and throw some big ol’ beer parties along the way. Plus, there’s a $20k stipend.”
The Chief Hiking Officer will also create and post content on social media documenting their hike on the trail.
If you’re selected, you’ll be starting your journey at Springer Mountain in Georgia and ending at Mt. Katahdian in Maine.
To qualify, you have to be over 21 and love hiking and beer. But if you think Stone Mountain is a hike, this may not be the job for you.
Hiking the full Appalachian Trail takes 5 to 7 months, and many experienced hikers don’t even make it.
The position is open for people Georgia, along with Washington DC, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
The company is currently taking applications through July 30. You’re asked to submit a 1-minute video explaining why you’re the perfect candidate.
